RTI to Host the Industrial Internet Consortium Industrial Internet Security Forum

Speakers to Discuss the New Industrial Internet Security Framework (IISF) Including Executives from RTI, Intel, Fujitsu, Belden and Electric Imp, Among Others

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—Sept. 29, 2016—Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity platform company, today announced that it will host the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) Industrial Internet Security Forum at its headquarters on Oct. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT. The event will review the newly released IIC Industrial Internet Security Framework (IISF), a common security framework that addresses security issues in IIoT systems. As connected devices become more prevalent, industrial systems are growing and advancing at an unprecedented rate, exposing networks that have otherwise been isolated from attacks. This has created an enormous risk for businesses operating industrial processes and placed an emphasis on the need for a comprehensive security solution.

The forum will feature in-depth presentations from key contributors to the IISF as well as case studies, live technology demonstrations and panel discussions. Dr. Hamed Soroush, Senior Research Security Engineer at RTI and one of the authors of the IISF, will present on the Communications and Connectivity chapter of the framework as well as speak on the interactive IISF Editors Panel. David Barnett, VP of Products and Markets at RTI, will present a case study on the Data-Distribution Service™ (DDS™) Security standard in healthcare. He will demonstrate the data-centric security capabilities of the DDS connectivity standard and how it has been applied to securing safety-critical applications in an integrated clinical environment.

"The Industrial Internet comprises some of the world's most vital systems such as in healthcare, transportation and infrastructure," said Stan Schneider, CEO of RTI and a member of the IIC Steering Committee. "Any attacks and intrusions into these systems could have dire consequences, which is why it's critical for companies to prioritize security. The Industrial Internet Security Framework is the most comprehensive document of its kind and is the first step in accelerating adoption of advanced technology solutions for the IIoT."

The forum is open to the public and free to attend. Pre-registration is required and can be completed on the IIC website: http://bit.ly/2d2atZl
