Provides Small-Footprint Messaging Software for Resource-Constrained and Certifiable Applications; Early Access Program Includes Free Evaluation Version
SUNNYVALE, Calif.—July 24, 2012—Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the world leader in delivering fast, scalable communications software that addresses the challenges of building and integrating real-time operational systems, today announced that RTI Connext™ Micro is now available as an early access release for free evaluation. RTI Connext Micro is part of the Connext family of products, and provides standards-compliant messaging for avionics systems, automotive controllers, industrial equipment and medical devices. The solution delivers high-performance connectivity between devices, real-time systems and the enterprise.
"Today almost any kind of device can be transformed into an intelligent system that generates valuable information for the enterprise. We have embedded devices in cars, production-line environments and medical equipment – and they all connect to a network or the Internet," said Edwin de Jong, director of product management and strategy at RTI. "System developers are faced with the challenge of making the data produced by a wide range of embedded devices available, in real-time, to the enterprise for enhanced business insight and intelligence. RTI's Connext Micro solution addresses this challenge."
RTI Connext Micro
RTI Connext Micro provides a small-footprint modular messaging solution for resource-limited devices that have minimal memory and CPU power or may not be running on an operating system. RTI Connext Micro reduces software complexity by abstracting out low-level networking details and providing a loosely coupled integration framework. It minimizes the amount of application code that has to be created, which accelerates development and facilitates long-term maintenance.
Additionally, RTI Connext Micro is designed to become a certifiable component in high-assurance systems. By providing a high-level and standards-compliant alternative to in-house development, RTI Connext Micro significantly reduces development and certification costs and offers a lower-risk solution for this type of system.
RTI Connext Micro integrates seamlessly with the entire Connext product line, thus connecting constrained environments directly to enterprise IT and Business Intelligence (BI) applications. Features include:
- Modular and user extensible architecture
- Minimal memory requirements
- Certifiable component for medical systems or flight critical systems that require certification up to DO-178C Level A
- Deterministic memory utilization with no dynamic allocation after startup
- Based on OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard and Real-Time Publish Subscribe (RTPS) protocal
- Seamless interoperability and portability with Connext DDS, Connext Messaging and Connext Integrator
- Enables loose coupling and network centricity
- Full source code distribution
- Pluggable transport interface can support many transports
- Supports Linux, Windows, VxWorks and FreeRTOS operating systems; portable to any or no operating system
RTI will provide live demonstrations of RTI Connext Micro at two upcoming conferences – Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE™) Technical Interchange Meeting and AUVSI. Hosted by The Open Group, FACE Technical Interchange Meeting will take place from July 31 - August 2, 2012 in Huntsville, Alabama. AUVSI will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from August 6-9, 2012.
The entire RTI Connext family of products is based on the ultra high-performance RTI DataBus™ that delivers throughput up to millions of messages per second. It can deliver in excess of 50 times the performance of middleware designed for traditional business applications. Additionally, it consistently provides low latency in microseconds.
RTI is the world leader in delivering fast, scalable, communications software that addresses the challenges of building and integrating real-time operational systems. RTI Connext solutions meet the needs of enterprise-wide integration—from the operational edge to the enterprise data center. The RTI standards-based software infrastructure improves the efficiency of operational systems while facilitating better decisions, actions and outcomes for the business enterprise.
For over ten years, RTI has delivered industry-leading products and solutions for customers in markets ranging from Aerospace & Defense, Process Automation, Financial Services, Energy, Automotive, Health Sciences and Transportation Management.
