DocBox Relies on RTI Connext DDS to Deliver Superior Patient Care and Reduce Healthcare Costs

Clinical Process Management Solution Provider Leverages High Performance Middleware to Provide Medical Staff with Real-Time Patient Data

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—Sept. 18, 2013—Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the real-time infrastructure software company, today announced that DocBox, a clinical process management solution provider, is leveraging its Data Distribution Service (DDS) middleware solution to deliver critical patient information in real-time to medical staff. By leveraging RTI Connext™ DDS, DocBox can ensure large amounts of medical data are handled safely, securely and accurately across devices, people and systems.

Statistically, preventable medical errors are the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. In an attempt to prevent these fatal errors, DocBox has developed an innovative clinical process management solution for hospitals that integrates complete patient information at the point-of-care.

DocBox uses RTI Connext DDS to enable hospitals to properly structure and prioritize medical data and efficiently distribute that data to physicians and clinicians. RTI provides DocBox with the communications infrastructure to facilitate real-time information exchange between applications and systems in hospitals. With this solution, DocBox is able to precisely and accurately connect data within applications and across devices, systems and networks.

"RTI Connext DDS met all of our initial needs, and continues to grow with us as we handle expanding amounts of data for multiple patients," said Tracy Rausch, founder of DocBox.

"RTI and DocBox have worked together for many years to ensure large amounts of medical data can be openly shared safely, securely and accurately," said Stan Schneider, CEO of RTI. "Our real-time infrastructure software enables doctors, nurses and other medical practitioners to receive critical patient data in real-time. We look forward to continuing to partner with DocBox to help prevent medical errors, increase patient safety and reduce healthcare costs."

RTI drove creation of the DDS standard and has been the definitive market leader since its adoption. First with support for both the DDS Application Programming Interface (API) and DDS-RTPS wire interoperability protocol, RTI Connext DDS is proven in hundreds of unique product designs and more than 350,000 copies are deployed today.
